Chicago Realtors: How To Find Out Which One Is Best for You!
Four Traits You Must See in Realtors in Chicago Before Agreeing to Work One
Anne and Nate Holland were most comfortable with email. But to their surprise and frustration they found some Chicago Realtors weren't yet up to speed on that means of communication. "Luckily, through our intensive interview process, deficiencies like this came to light," said Anne, a no nonsense human resources administrator.
|
This is why you must interview several Realtors. You are looking for someone you feel comfortable with. Someone who is personable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about real estate listings in the part of Chicago you want to live in.
"Yeah, you have to find out which neighborhoods they know best," advised Nate. "House hunting can honestly become a bit of a chore in no time. At least it was for me. And if a realtor doesn't know an area how can they help you get the best price in as little time as possible?"
Communication in some form is critical.
|
This is why you should ask prospective real estate agents how they keep their clients updated about what's going on. Also find out how often this happens. Because to land a desirable house you need an agent who keeps you well informed.
"Here's another question to ask," chimed in Anne. "Does the person do real estate full time. Part timers are often what you might call 'housing hobbyists". I don't see how they can possibly know the market or have the contacts as someone who lives and breathes it 50 hours a week."
Which leads us to the next critical credential: experience. Nothing replaces experience when it comes to realtors. Chicago or elsewhere. So find out how long they've been in the business. Newbies may be extra enthusiastic but you shouldn't seriously consider anyone with less than a years experience. Aside from a personality match, experience is the most important thing to look for when hiring an agent.
Be picky. Working your way through the Chicago homes for sale is stressful enough without having to work with someone you don't really like or who is taking your to properies that don't meet your criteria. So pay attention not only to the answer to these questions but how well the question is received. Since it's questions like these should help you come up with the pick of the litter when it comes to Chicago realtors.
